Woodland Beaver Colony
Beavers is the first stage of scouting and we aim to make it fun!
We usually meet on Wednesday evenings at North Leigh primary school from 6pm until 7.15pm; however, we also try to meet outside in other places when the weather is nice. Our group is open to both boys and girls aged between 6 and 8 years.
Lots of activities designed to get everyone involved
Our programme is innovative and diverse. One week we may be focusing on arts and crafts the next we may be having a visit from a local police officer, going on a hike or even cooking marshmallows on a campfire. Our ambition is to get young people involved in as many different activities as we can. We have an annual trip to an activity centre like Youlbury, where the Beavers will be able to have a go at activities like abseiling, climbing and archery.
Badges!
Our programme allows us to work towards a range of badges, from cooking to sport, space to digital citizen there are lots of different badges that we complete as a group or individually. We try to ensure that everyone will leave beavers with their Bronze Award. They earn their Bronze Award by completing all 6 challenge badges and at least 4 activity badges.
But most of all when planning our activities we aim to have fun.
