Hurdle Steeple Chase Relay
Our Grand Finale was a mass Hurdle Steeplechase Relay. Each lodge had 4 runners who were numbered from one to four. The number ones had to run around a track marked out with cones, jumping over the hurdles as they went, before handing over their baton in the changeover area to the number twos and so on. One of the hurdles was a steeplechase water jump; however, as we couldn’t really dig a hole in the ground at the Roman Villa, we squirted anyone landing in this area with water.
Sound simple? We though so but it was utter, utter chaos and we were unable to award any points for this event because we hadn’t a clue which team won. Some beavers were running in the wrong direction, some couldn’t remember who they were handing the baton to and others decided to go and play in the long grass!
Nevertheless, well done to every one of the beavers for joining in and trying their hardest at all the events, there were some fantastic performances!
Thank you very much to Richard and Robert, our parent helpers, for doing a great job!
Badges and Awards
Next, we presented the beavers with the badges that they has earnt this term.
Lastly, we said our formal farewell to the two beavers who are leaving us, luckily for us, both to move up to Windmill Cubs. We also presented a Chief Scout’s Bronze Award to one of them. This is the highest award a beaver can earn and does not come easily.
Well done to these two beavers for everything they have achieved, we wish you both all the very best and every success in you futures and we will miss you!
