This week, we went to Sophie’s Woodland to learn to tie some knots and to do some nature art.
Firstly, before heading to the woods, we invested the last of our new starters – congratulations!
Once we got to the woods, we started with a game of Splat! Well done to the sharp shooter who won.
We then split into 2 groups, one learning to tie knots and the other learning about nature art. Later on, the two groups swapped over activities.
The knot tying group had to learn to tie a reef knot, a figure 8 knot and a cow hitch. Rather optimistically, we thought that the beavers would be able to achieve all three; however, we are going to revisit the figure 8 knot and the cow hitch on another occasion!
Well done to all those who managed to tie a reef knot!
Thank you very much to Owl for organising the knot tying activity. Thanks also to our parent helper, Steve, who did a great job of assisting Owl.
The nature art group had to collect a number of items from the woodland, different coloured items, different shaped items, etc.
They then had to create an artistic design using what they had collected:
One of the items that they had to collect was a beautiful item. As you can see from the following image, one of our beaver quite rightly felt that he met this criteria:
Well done to all the beavers for some great designs!
Thank you very much to Hedgehog for organising the nature art activity.
