Beavers – Remembrance 2024

This week, the beavers learnt about Remembrance and why we wear poppies. After watching a short video, we painted Remembrance Stones.

We also carried out our annual fire evacuation practice – well done beavers, once you got over the shock of Ant shouting “Fire, Fire”, you all did a great job of evacuating the building!

While we were waiting for the first coat of paint to dry a little, we also managed to play a game of Lava. Three teams had to get from one end of the hall to the other using a few sheets of lava-proof newspaper. They did well, then we took away a sheet of newspaper from two of the teams and gave them to the third team. This forced the two teams to be innovative. One team crawled down a row of benches (not against the rules) and one team made each member little newspaper slider shoes (not against the rules). These two teams finished before the team with all the newspaper – ingenious creatures beavers!

We then went back and finished off our stone paintings. Some of the beavers did some great creations and some of the beavers went for quantity, probably with enough to make a small rockery!
