With Remembrance Sunday approaching and also as part of our Skills Challenge Badge, this week Karl (Chil from Kestrel Cubs and world-renowned necker roller) and Lottie (Endeavour Scout Leader) kindly came in to teach us how to tie our neckers properly. Essentially, neckers need to be clean and ironed before being rolled tightly. As can be seen in the pictures below, the beavers did a pretty good job – well done beavers!

As part of our World Challenge badge, we then watched a short video about Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. The video we watched and quite a lot more about Diwali can be found by clicking on this button:
We then went on to make our own Diya lamps out of some air-drying clay. Usually, Diya lamps are filled with oil and a wick but we decided that tea lights would be a little safer!
