The 1st North Leigh Scout Group (which includes Beavers, Cubs & Scouts) had a Group Fun Day on Saturday 23 September 2017. It gave us the chance to all join up (Beavers, Cubs & Scouts) and meet each other and have lots of fun.
In the morning we split into mixed groups to each do one of the activities Youlbury had to offer. For example crate stacking, abseiling, climbing wall, archery, rifle shooting.
After lunch we split in to new mixed groups and rotated round our campsite going on various bases. The bases included first aid, knots and pioneering – making a huge bench, cooking over a fire, team-working on a ‘senses course’, making a woggle, friendship bracelet and dream-catcher, messaging using semaphore flags, making fires and a sheepdog trial.
We finished off a really busy day with a barbecue and campfire. It was a lovely day, the weather was kind to us and everyone tried their best throughout the day on the activities, bases and campfire.
With the Group being so large, we don’t often get the chance to meet up together, so it was really nice for everyone to see each other in one location and to meet others from other sections within our Group.
