Bird Boxes

As part of the Our World Challenge Badge we made bird boxes, in order to ‘take part in an activity about the environment’. The Cubs were able to take the bird box they made home, and could put them up in the garden, and keep an eye on them to see if they become occupied!

Akela taught them how to use a drill safely, then, with the help of leaders and adult helpers, they were able to assemble their bird boxes. Everyone made very sturdy boxes, and we can’t wait to see if they get any visitors!

If you want to find out more information about bird boxes, where to hang them, and what to expect, why not visit the RSPB website, and look at their section on ‘Nestboxes for Small Birds’?…
