What a great time we had at the Youlbury Woodland Activity Day. All of our beavers were amazing, joined in everything and had lots of fun. We were really lucky to have great weather and would like to thank the staff at Youlbury for putting on such a great day of activities.
As we had 22 young people, we were split into two groups. We joined together for our first activity, which was to make some terraniums – plastic containers that we filled with soil and plants and are essentially a miniature, self-sustaining indoor garden or ecosystem.
Our next activity, also done with both groups together. was to create some nature art and here are some examples of what we produced:
After this, one group learnt about and make some tracking signs and the other group did some tree rubbing.
After our picnic lunch and a lovely, relaxing play in the nice weather, the two groups split up again. One group went to play soft archery, while the other group went on the zip wire. Here are some pictures of the soft archery:
Then the other group went on the zip wire while the group that had already been on it went on the low ropes. Here are some pictures of us on the low ropes:
And here are some pictures of us all at the zip wire:
Our last, joint activity, was backwoods cooking, where we made some bread that we had with jam – yummy! We also had the chance to have a s’more before going home.
