What a great Safari Sleepover we had. Well done to all the beavers who came along, you were all amazing!
We did a lot of fun safari activities, including wearing animal masks to play Mask ‘N’ Ask (guess who?) followed by animal charades.
Then Eagle helped us to make safari biscuits.
After that, we had our supper, hot dogs and hot chocolate.
After supper, we played a game of Guess the Animal Sounds. There were 10 safari animals, making some very strange noises but, with a few clues, the beavers got them all – clever bunch!
Owl joined us and led our last activity of the evening, the very important campfire songs in the dark.
While the beavers were enjoying the campfire songs, Ant and Eagle set up our campsite so that we could move in when we got back.
After the beavers were all ready for bed and had brushed their teeth (there is a bit of a badge in doing that), Owl read our bedtime story, Skye and the Great Safari Race.
We were in bed with the lights dimmed a little after 10pm! A really peaceful night followed.
At 6.30am sharp, the lights went on, the party music went on and we got up and dressed and started to pack up and tidy up the campsite.
We stopped for breakfast, bacon, eggs, beans, toast, cereal and fruit juice, before going back to packing up.
After we had finished packing up, we had the worst magic show ever. However, when you see the worst magic show ever, at least you can work out how all the tricks are done!
After the magic show, Hedgehog led us in a game based around the story of the Gruffalo – it was exhausting and definitely not suitable for the more mature leaders to join in. Sadly, we don’t have any photos of the game!
After the Gruffalo game we did some balloon modelling. You may not think of a parrot as a safari animal but there are lots of parrot species found in the wild in Africa, including well-known ones like the African grey parrot. Also, parrots are easy to make with a balloon!
After making our balloon parrots we decorated our safari biscuits, then had a drink and ate the biscuits – yum yum, not bad!
Sadly, we ran out of time. We had a little bit of free play before our Beaver Call and then it was time to go home!
I am sure that we will all sleep well tonight!
Well done leaders, you were brilliant!
Well done beavers, you were a delight!
