Around 50 of our young people attended Group Day this year and had a fabulous time. In the morning they each had a go at two of the activities run by Youlbury – 3G swing, abseiling, aerial trek, climbing, crate stacking, zip wire, archery, pedal go carts, tomahawks.
After lunch we played ‘The Trading Game’, where the young people were split into teams of five and given 50 Baden Pounds (the currency of the game). They then used their money to buy resources such as pens and paper, and could then make things and sell them at the trading post (such as a paper airplane that could fly 10m, a reef knot, a model of a nativity scene etc). The teams could also double their points if they sang a song at the campfire, which most teams did!
The winning teams were:
1st Team 8 with 680 Baden Pounds
2nd Team 5 with 670 Baden Pounds
3rd Team 1 with 640 Baden Pounds
Group Day is a great opportunity for all the sections to mix together and to demonstrate the many skills that the young members have been learning on their scouting journey. A huge well done to all our young members for being amazing! Another huge well done and thank you to all our leaders, young leaders and adult volunteers for their hard work in organising and running the event – you are all amazing too!
Thanks to Lucy, here are some photos from the day:
