So how strong is newspaper? We tasked the cubs with building a bridge out of newspaper to hold as much weight as possible. They needed to let their imaginations run wild, but at the same time use teamwork so that firstly they had a bridge and secondly the bridge would not collapse when weights were put on it. There was a lot of discussion and ideas. The end result was that the cubs ended up with some great bridges, holding a surprising amount of weight!
